The outer surface of a beaker containing ice cubes becomes wet in short while - Give scientific reason.

Question  The outer surface of a beaker containing ice cubes becomes wet in short while. Answer  When ice cubes are placed in a beaker, ice starts melting.  The heat required for melting is absorbed from the surrounding air and also from the beaker to some extent.  Hence, the temperature of the air and beaker falls.  The capacity of air to hold water vapour depends upon the temperature of the air, and this capacity decreases as the temperature decreases.  At a certain low temperature, the surrounding air becomes saturated with water vapour present in it.  As the temperature falls further, the air is unable to hold all the water vapour.  Hence, the extra water vapour starts condensing on the cold outer surface of the beaker in the form of minute drops.  Therefore, The outer surface of the beaker containing ice cubes becomes wet in a short while.

                          Do You Know: Chemical Reaction

INFORMATION:-

Points:-

1.One or more chemical reactions takes place during every chemical change.

2.Some chemical reactions occur at fast speed whereas some occur at slow speed.

3.Strong acid and strong base react instantaneously.

4.In our body, enzyme increase the rate of physiological reactions.

5.Perishable Foodstuff gets preserved longer in a refrigerator. The rate of decomposition of foodstuff gets lowered due to low temperature, and its freshness is maintained.

6.Vegitable cook quickly on oil rather than no water.

7.The chemical reactions are profitable in the chemical factories if their state is fast.

8.The rate of chemical reaction is important from environmental point of view as well.

9.The ozone layer in the earth's atmosphere protects the life on the earth from the ultraviolet radiation of the sun. The process of depletion or maintenance of this layer depends upon the rate of production or destruction of ozone molecules.
